European applicants

How is a European applicant defined? Can I apply?

To be eligible, European undergraduate and master students as well as doctoral and post-doctoral candidates, referred as "European students":

  • Must be a national of one of the eligible European countries;
  • Must be registered at one of the European HEIs within the partnership;

Students fulfilling the following conditions are also eligible to apply:

  • Students applying for a masters mobility who have obtained a first higher education degree or a recognised equivalent level of learning from a European HEI within the partnership during the same academic year coinciding with the start of the project eligibility period;
  • Students applying for doctorate mobility who have obtained a second higher education degree or a recognised equivalent level of learning from a European HEI within the partnership during the same academic year coinciding with the start of the project eligibility period;
  • Students applying for a post-doctorate mobility who have obtained their doctorate in the last two years and must have the support of a European HEI within the partnership to carry out a post-doctorate mobility. This can be for research, training and attending highly specialised courses.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries.
  • Undergraduate students must have successfully completed at least one year of studies at first higher education level.

Application documents

The “application package” for IAMONET-RU must include the following documents:

1. Application form (electronic version and hard paper copy)

Please mark one of the following categories in your application:

  • BSC- or MSc-student
  • PhD-student
  • Post Doc
  • Academic Staff

The scholarships can be started from the 1st of September 2010 – 1st of April 2011 at the latest. Please mark the semester you are applying for.

2. Cover letter (electronic version and hard paper copy)

  • personal and scientific interest and goals in the field of the studies your applying to, personal situation, practical experiences in that field, choice of your study/research destination (maximum 1 page)

3. CV of the applicant (electronic and hard paper copy).

Please use the Europass format, available at Europass.

4. One letter of recommendation (only hard paper copy)

from professors/academic supervisors (interest of cooperation and impacts of a study/research participation in IAMONET-RU). For students: one of this letters has to be signed by dean of your faculty.

5. International passport (electronic and copy).

6. Letter of Acceptance / Confirmation from Supervisor / Host University (electronic and hard paper copy)

The letter of confirmation is an important part of your application. Please add the letter of acceptance or/and a confirmation from your supervisor of your host university to your application. If you are still waiting for the response, please let us know which professors you have already contacted and when you expect you get a confirmation.

7. for students: Evidence of academic performance (certificates, degrees etc.) (only hard paper copy)

  • certified copies of degrees, transcript of records, highest obtained degree (plus: official translation of these documents into English, certified by the home university)
  • certified language certificates/confirmation

8. for PhD, Post Doc, Academic Staff: Research/Academic proposal (electronic version and hard paper copy)

  • Description of the research/academic project, methodology, implementation and expected results (max 2 pages)
  • Please use the template (you can find it online in the section “Download”)
  • Confirmation from scientific supervisor at the Host University.

How to apply

  1. The first step in applying for this scholarship is to contact your local coordinator of your home university.
  2. Applications must be submitted in two ways until Monday, 01.03.2010 (inclusive) at the latest to the local coordinator of your home university.
    • Please submit the "hard copies" of the required documents (Application form, Motivation letter, CV, recommendation letter, evidence of academic performance, language certificates/confirmations, plus separates documents for PhD and Academic/Teaching staff) to the contact person of your University AND
    • Electronic version (Application form, Motivation letter, research proposal). Please, note that electronic archive of your documents shouldn’t be more than 2 MB.

Please note that only complete package of your application can be considered!
