Russian Applicants

Applicants from Russian Universities and Non-Partner-Universities

Who is defined as Russian applicant?

To be eligible, Russian undergraduate and master students as well as doctoral and post-doctoral candidates, referred as "Russian applicants":

  • Must be a national of one of the third countries covered by the relevant lot;
  • Must have not resided nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries at the time of submitting their application to the partnership;
  • For Target Group 1 (TG 1): students need to be registered at one of the third-country HEIs within the partnership at the time of submitting their documents. Undergraduate students must have successfully completed at least one year of studies in their home institution;
  • For Target Group 2 (TG 2): students need either to be registered in a HEI (not included in the partnership) of the third country concerned by the lot or having obtained a university degree or equivalent by an institution of these third countries. They will need to justify how this study period abroad will benefit them (and their direct socio-economical environment) and include letters of support in their individual application;
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries.

In order to be eligable, Academic and administrative staff, herefter referred as "Staff":

  • Must be a Russian national;
  • Must work in or be associated to one of the partnership universities;

The home and the host university must agree on the programme of lectures to be delivered by the visiting staff, on the research activities or on the type of training be be followed.

 

Application documents

Your “application package” for IAMONET-RU must include the following documents:

1. Application form (electronic version and hard paper copy)

Please mark one of the following categories in your application:

  • BSC- or MSc-student
  • PhD-student
  • Post Doc
  • Academic Staff

Regarding the program rules the mobility flows can be started from the 1st of September 2010 – 1st of December 2011 at the latest. Please mark the semester you are applying for und please find out, if you can be accepted at the semester, you are going to apply.

It is highly recommended that you check well in advance the requirements of the host university you are applying for. Please consider that each university has got own rules and admission periods. Only if you fulfil the requirements of the host university, the university can accept you.

2. Cover letter (electronic version and hard paper copy)

  • personal and scientific interest and goals in the field of the studies your applying to, personal situation, practical experiences in that field, choice of your study/research destination (maximum 1 page)

3. CV of the applicant (electronic and hard paper copy).

Please use the Europass format, available at Europass.

4. Two letters of recommendation (only hard paper copy)

from professors/academic supervisors (interest of cooperation and impacts of a study/research participation in IAMONET-RU). For students: one of this letters has to be signed by dean of your faculty.

5. International passport (electronic and copy).

Be sure that your passport will not be expired during the time of your stay.

6. For PhD-students, Post Docs and Academic Staff: Letter of Acceptance / Confirmation from Supervisor / Host University (electronic and hard paper copy)

The letter of confirmation is an important part of your application. Please add the letter of acceptance or/and a confirmation from your supervisor of your host university to your application. If you are still waiting for the response of your supervisor, please let us know which professors you have already contacted and when you expect you get a confirmation.

Bachelor- and Masterstudents, who already received an admission letter from the host university can also add it to the application for the grant. But, students don´t have to submit a confirmation letter from a supervisor!

7. for students: Evidence of academic performance (certificates, degrees etc.) (only hard paper copy)

  • certified copies of degrees, transcript of records, highest obtained degree (plus: official translation of these documents into English, certified by the home university)
  • certified language certificates/confirmation

8. for PhD, Post Doc, Academic Staff: Research/Academic proposal (electronic version and hard paper copy)

  • Description of the research/academic project, methodology, implementation and expected results (max 2 pages)
  • Please use the template (available in the section “Download”)
  • Confirmation from scientific supervisor at the Host University

9. If you apply for full Master program

International language certificate (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, TestDaF,…)

10. PhD-students, Post Doc and Academic Staff: Proof that you are registered in "Aspirantura" (PhD-students) or affilated as a staff member of your home institution. Official proof must be submitted.

Advices for your application

To make sure that you fill in your application correctly, please read the follwing advices:

Please

  • fill in all your documents properly
  • name your electronic documents correctly in Latin (not in kyrillic) letters: e.g. application form_Ivanov, cover letter_Ivanov, passport_Ivanov, …
  • put electronic and hard paper copies in the right / correct order (1. Application form, 2. Cover Letter, 3. CV, …)
  • save all your documents separately (not zip, rar-archive) and send it at first to the local coordinator / Regional coordinator (TG 2). The electronic documents should not be larger than 3 MB.

How to apply

The first step in applying for this scholarship is to contact your local coordinator of your home university (Target Group 1) or the coordinator from Timiryazev Academy (Target Group 2).

2. Applications must be submitted in two ways till the 01st of March 2010 (deadline for application) at the latest to the local coordinator of your home university (Target Group 1) or to the contact person of Timiryazev-Academy (only for Target Group 2).

A) Please submit the "hard copies" of the required documents (Application form, Motivation letter, CV, recommendation letters, evidence of academic performance, language certificates/confirmations, plus separates documents for post-Docs, Doctorates, Teaching staff) to the contact person of your University AND

B) Electronic version (Application form, Motivation letter, CV, research proposal and copy of your passport). Please, note that electronic documents shouldn’t be bigger than 3 MB.
